Welcome to our website. Our initiative is tries to make the ,,Backhaus” in Frankfurt a social hub for the residents* of Bockenheim. Take a look at the previous concepts, ideas and contributions. We also welcome any suggestions and support!
The “Initiative Social Hub” (ISH) project initiative aims to establish and operate a self-organised social centre in Frankfurt. This should appear as a “social hub”. The concrete space we would like for this project is the former Tibethaus in Bockenheim (Kaufunger Straße 4 / Friesengasse 13). Basically, this room should fulfil two functions:
- a cross-generational space for collective structures and projects, for diversity and togetherness
- a place of communication and an experimental space for all participants
Communication means communication among each other and at the same time communication of our ideas of living together into society. The necessary financial resources are mainly provided by membership fees, private subsidies and donations. The commitment to the project initiative is voluntary. Anti-authoritarian self-government, characterised by collectivity, freedom from any hierarchy and open space, is the basis of ISH.
Collective self-organization
We want to create a place where self-government and self-organisation can be learned. Self-governed and self-organized structures and spaces are the exception in our society and the ability to maintain such structures in the long term is only partially present in all of us. We want to contribute to the fact that this is going to change!
Openness and networking
The Social Hub is to become an important place within the quarter and above all also be there for the neighbourhood and supported by it. The Hülya Square is to be expanded and culturally enriched by the opening of the site. For all those who live in the quarter, such as the residents the nearby nursing home.
Empowerment
The project lives from the ideas of those who participate. ISH should be politically independent of state, country and city. We want to realize our ideas of and wishes for society together, without bosses and instructions “from above”. The joint work should be based on free but binding agreements and mutual aid by all parties involved.
